Wedding Ring Recovered on Anna Maria Island, Florida

Aaron, Yvette, and family came to Anna Maria Island from Wesley Chapel on Friday to enjoy the long labor day weekend. All went well until Sunday. While Aaron was tossing a ball with his son Gus, He lunged for the ball and off flew his wedding ring. He had the good sense to stand right where he felt it come off, checked his location with landmarks on shore, and then counted the steps back to shore and marked his exit with a 5 gallon bucket. His brother-in-law found SRARC online and contacted us. Mike Miller was near the location searching for a different ring and was able to respond while the group was still at the beach. With such good directions from Aaron, Mike was able to find the ring in about 10 minutes. Both Aaron and Yvette were very happy to get the ring back and mentioned that coincidentally they had honeymooned twenty years ago just a few blocks from where he had lost his ring twenty years later. SRARC is happy we could put him on track again for another twenty years.

Wedding Ring Returned on Anna Maria Island, Florida

Zoran was playing soccer with his buddies at the Anna Maria Community club when a pass came his direction. He reached out to block it and the ball hit his hand and bounced off. A few minutes later he realized his wedding ring was missing. One of the other guy’s mentioned to him that he saw a flash of something flying through the air when the ball had hit Zoran’s hand. They all stopped playing and got down on their hands and knees to search for the ring. No one could see it. The next day Zoran came back, climbed the fence and search again. He had no luck but one of his buddies said he knew someone who could help.

Zoran contacted Stan Flack who in turn contacted Mike Miller. Mike organized a hunt for Saturday morning and both Mike and Jerry Schneider showed up at the Community Club at 9:00 am. Zoran arrived a few minutes later and showed them the general location where the ring had been lost. Jerry and Mike went to work and about 10 minutes later Jerry called out “I got it!!!!”

Zoran was extremely happy and could not believe how quickly we found it. Congratulations team SRARC and especially to Jerry who has now recovered his first ring on a SRARC hunt.

Lost Wedding ring set found and returned at Ft Desoto Park, Pinellas County, Florida

Jordi and Maria recently moved from Spain to Orlando for a job opportunity and then on July 4, 2015 were married. This last weekend they decided to take a vacation weekend and explore a little bit of the Florida western Gulf Coast. On Friday, they came to the North Beach at Ft Desoto and were relaxing in the sun and Gulf waters.

In early afternoon they were tossing a ball to each other when Maria reached for the ball and felt her new wedding set come off her hand. She stood right where it had fallen off while Jordi dug in the sand around her feet to try and recover them. They couldn’t find the rings even thought they looked for the rest of the day. Jordi was wise enough to take a good look around and marked the location in his mind with visuals of the landscape around him. They went to there hotel that night very sad about the loss of Maria’s wedding rings. The next morning Jordi rented a metal detector and returned to the spot where the rings had been lost. He found a few pieces of rusty iron, but no rings and then the detector quit working. They continued to hunt for the rest of the day, but had no luck. They returned to Orlando the next day and Jordi got busy searching the internet and soon found SRARC on The Ring Finders site.

He contacted Mike and soon they had a meeting time established for Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 pm. Mike Miller, Chris Duerden, Bill Gallant, and Tom & Joanne Gajentan were able to attend the hunt and within 7 minutes we had both rings back on the hand of Maria. What a bunch of beautiful smiles were shared between the entire group.

Jordi and Maria were wish you the best of times while you are here in the United States and also wish you many happy years together.

Great work team, It is just the best when we are able to rescue something precious for such nice people.

HS Class Ring Lost, Found and Returned from Pass A Grille beach

During a recent detecting trip Mike Miller found a class ring. He started a search to find the owner (Tracie) and was able to find her and return her ring to her.

Her story is that Tracie and her fiance (David) were at her favorite beach for the afternoon. David was wearing her High School class ring and she warned him that if he lost it he was a “dead man”. He went into the water and was pulling himself along the bottom in waist deep water where sure enough the ring came off. Tracie was not a happy beach person after that, but they looked for the ring and finally gave up.

A couple months later she got an email telling her that Mike had found her ring and would like to return it to her. Overjoyed she contacted him and they met at a local Gulfport restaurant. She said not only did Mike return her ring he saved her fiancé’s life. The picture and smiles say the rest.

Natalie posted on the website “Next Door” for St. Pete’s Old NE neighborhood that her husband, Logan, had lost his wedding band while they were out walking the dog. SRARC member Paul Hill saw the post while at lunch after Church and gave them a call to find out more specific information. Upon returning home, Paul got right to work going over the area discu…ssed (4 blocks of sidewalks). After 2 hours, no ring was found. Letting the temperature drop a bit, Paul headed back out for another hour. With no luck, Paul called and let them know that he could not find it but if they could narrow down the location, he would be happy to try again. The next day after Natalie looked at some pictures of their walk, they realized Logan didn’t have his ring on in any of them. That is when it hit Logan that he had played volleyball Sunday morning at a nearby park before they went on their walk. A text was sent to Paul, who said he would head over there as soon as he returned home later that day. Paul headed over to the courts with fellow SRARC member Stan Flack to try and find the ring. Upon arrival, all the courts were busy except the one that Logan had played on that previous day. Within two minutes, Stan had recovered the ring. They headed over and returned the ring to a very excited Logan who couldn’t believe it was found.

Diamond Stud Earring Rescued from the Lawn in Parrish, Florida

This recovery is a little more special to one SRARC member.
Cameron was going to do her husband Mike a favor and mow the lawn for him since he has been so busy and she was heading out of town for a “girls weekend”. When she was finished, she headed into the house and heard something hit the kitchen floor. She was horrified to see the back of her diamond earring but not the earring itself. She looked frantically but was unable to find it anywhere. Thinking back, she recalled her hat being knocked off by a low hanging oak limb while she was mowing the lawn. The search was on again. After a week, she asked Mike to call Paul Hill, a good friend from their High School days who she knew did metal detecting. Mike called and caught Paul at nearby Holmes Beach in Anna Maria with fellow SRARC member Mike Miller. The beach was getting too rough to detect so after swinging by Mike Miller’s house to get a couple of different detectors they headed over to Mike and Cameron’s to begin the search. Now earrings are one of the hardest things to find since there is very little metal surrounding the stone. Unfortunately, Cameron had just dropped off the matching earring at the jeweler’s to get a replacement appraisal. This means that Mike and Paul didn’t have one to calibrate their detectors to such a small target. The hunt went on for about an hour and a half when Mike casually said…”I got it”. Wait…What? Of course a little teasing was in order since neither Cameron nor Mike were nearby to hear the good news. Hugs and high fives were flowing freely as the reality of what just happened settled in. When it was all said and done, Cameron was shedding tears of joy! Screw backs are in her future! Paul was extremely relieved to be able to have a successful recovery for such a dear friend!

Platinum Wedding Ring Recovered in Wesley Chapel, Florida

Scot  could not believe he had lost his second wedding band in the last five years.  He gave up on his first band lost in the waves at Clearwater Beach, put out some hard earned cash to buy another platinum band, and proceeded to hear it hit his driveway as he was shooting baskets in his front yard.  After an exhaustive search of the grass, raking out his garden of years of mulch and a week of monsoon-like rain, he stumbled upon the Ring Finders website.
A call to Mike Miller who relayed the situation to Mark Prue resulted in a visit to Scot’s house.  After searching the grassy area with no luck whatsoever, Mark made his way to the garden only to find it occupied by boxwood bushes.  Next to impossible to swing a detector amongst these plants, Mark decided to try his pinpointer.  At the third bush, the pointer alerted Mark to something metallic.  After some scratching and digging, out popped a heavy platinum wedding band!!
A look of complete relief crossed Scot’s face as Mark pulled the ring from the boxwood and returned it to Scot!!  Scot said that you sure have saved me some serious money!  The thought of having to purchase a third wedding band was too painful to face.  Another great ending for Scot and Ring Finders….. SRARC appreciates your dedication. Great recovery Mark!!!!!!!!!!!

Diamond Pendant Recovered from St Pete Beach Inland Canal

Allison contacted SRARC distraught over losing her vintage diamond pendant in the water near their dock. When she explained that the water was 8 to 10 feet at that area it was a concern because this is a dive hunt and not a normal detecting call out. She went on to say that the bottom was really soft and lots of silt.

After hearing her plea to please help, Tom Jones decided to give it a try but with the warning that the pendant may or may not be recovered.

Tom Jones and Joe Szemer loaded up a compressor, dive gear and detectors and headed out to the home to meet up with Allison and her family. The water at the dock was still 6 – 8 feet at low tide, so Tom hooked up his dive gear and dropped in. Within 2 minutes on the bottom Tom Noticed what looked to be a shell on the sand. When he ran his detector over it he got a signal, reached down and picked up the half dollar sized pendant. He came back up and everyone thought something was wrong until he handed the pendant to Joe. Luckily the piece was large enough to lay on top of the soft sand.

Upon getting out of the water Allison hugged Tom even though he was dripping wet, she said “I don’t care if you’re wet. Thank you so much for finding it for me.”

Great Job Ton and Joe. SRARC appreciates your taking that extra step to bring the smiles.

Wedding Ring Recovered at Clearwater Beach, Florida

Alex and Emma were enjoying a family reunion vacation with Emma’s parents and siblings with spouses at Clearwater Beach. They had traveled from the UK and the weather was not cooperating until Monday evening. The wind and rain had died down in the late afternoon and they finally got the chance to enjoy the beach. Alex was playing catch when he felt something funny and then noticed his wedding ring was missing. The whole family looked for it but could not find it.

That evening Alex began looking on the internet for someone to help and SRARC  popped up right away on The Ring Finders site. He contacted Tom and arrangements were made for a team to meet the next morning at 8:00 am. The team, Jim & Gerri Adams, Ed Osmar, Chris & Georgia Duerden, and Mike Miller got the lay out from Alex and went to work. About 30 minutes later Mike got lucky and found the ring. He called to Alex and Emma to come see if it was their ring. As they approached they were astonished that we had actually found the ring. Alex with a big grin on his face shook Mike’s hand and thanked him while Emma broke into tears of joy. Mike got a great big hug to round out the celebration.

The sun was out and the family was rejoined with the lost ring. They were really ready to get on with a great vacation and we think the weather will be cooperating for the rest of the week. Have a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wedding Ring Recovered At Clearwater Beach, Florida

My husband and I got married at Clearwater Beach, Florida in 2014 and came back to visit my old home for our one year anniversary. On a Thursday, we were hanging out on the beach and I decided to go down to take pictures by the water. I placed my ring inside a rose and scooted up closer to the shore to get a nicer view. When I moved up, the ring fell and at that point, I believe the water had come up. I looked around, but could not find it. A lady that was nearby also tried to help me, but we had no luck. I spent the next few hours searching and even came back the next day. I was hoping to find someone with a metal detector, but was unable to both days. I kept faith that somehow it would show up and someone would return it.  After returning back from our vacation, I thought about filing a Clearwater Police report for a missing item online, but first I began to search, “missing rings in Clearwater Beach, Fl”, and that’s when I found Ring Finders! I went to the Suncoast Research and Recovery Club page and sent an email in hopes that someone could help. Stan immediately contacted me and got more information from me. I wasn’t sure if he would find it since it was almost a week later and Clearwater beach is a highly detected area. Stan went exactly a week after I lost it and I was beyond shocked when I looked at my phone and saw the picture of my missing ring in his hand! I was blown away and I am so grateful for Stan and his wife, Linda, for helping me get my lost treasure back. Miracles do happen and I thank all the volunteers at Suncoast Research and Recovery Club for all they do! A big thanks to Stan Flack and Howard Metts for bringing a smile to another couples faces.
