I received a call from Matthew at about 3pm this afternoon, Sunday Feb 26. He explained to me that he has lost his wife’s engagement ring out on his parents property, out in Ardrossan last Saturday in their parking lot. He said him and his parents made frequent attempts to find it with no success. He went right to Google and found my add on The Ring Finders Website and called me right away. At the time, I was out running errands but was finished and had all my equipment in the trunk of my car. I told him I would be out there within 40 mins. I arrived at his parents property at around 3:45pm and was met by Matthews Dad. He took me to the spot where they thought he had lost the ring and we boxed off a good size area in the snow for me to search. So, by 4:00 I was ready to swing away. I made my first pass of my grid search and got a low tone with about a 16-20 number indicator. I knew that was not it, but i wanted to look anyways. That ended up being a nail. Got to the end of the grid, turned around and started my second pass. Almost right away I got a nice high tone with a consistent 59-60 number indicator…….That had to be it. I got out my pin pointer, and stuck it about an inch into the snow. That went off as well. I slowly brushed the snow away and there it was, a nice white gold engagement ring. Matthews Dad could not believe I had found it about 3 mins after I had started. With his dads permission, I was off to Matthews house in Sherwood Park to return his Wife’s ring. Thank you Matthew and Family for the call, trusting me to find and return your Engagement Ring, and for the generous reward!!!
Well Today was my first hunt with The Ring Finders, This morning I got a call from Cindy O saying she had lost her wedding ring and had been searching for it for over a week. I told her i could be to her location within an hour. I arrived at her house and got a back story, turns out she was getting everything ready for a dinner (chopping, cutting stuffing a turkey) so there was a ton of activity going on in her house and she was sure she had lost it while stuffing the turkey, so we started…..took out all the compost where the turkey remains and spread it out on some poly. I searched around in that but just was not getting any consistent hits with the detector, I continued to ask questions and she thought maybe she had lost it while taking down the Christmas tree so we searched there with no luck, we even went as far as emptying her central vac and checking the debris from that with no luck. So after many repeated attempts with no luck in finding her ring we both decided i had searched everywhere she felt necessary and i was on my way home……First hunt not a success…..until i get a call from Cindy saying she found the ring, she remembered she had been shopping at a local sobeys, called there and they had it. AWESOME NEWS!!!!
So Moral of the story, if your not successful in finding with the metal detector please remember your are exhausting possible locations of the lost item, only narrowing the actual location down.
Keep your head up
Happy Hunting 🙂
First time for everything
Hey everyone, Let me tell you how excited I am to be apart of The Ring Finders. Last summer I was looking for a way to make a little extra money and have some fun at the same time so i advertised on Kijiji for a Metal Detecting service. The success i had out of this was amazing i could not believe the calls i was getting. Wedding rings lost on golf courses, in construction sites just in the grass out front of there house and at parks, lost pendants while playing soccer even did a search for a hearing aid that was lost while the individual was trimming hedges. Also how generous people were when you found there lost item or even came out and put in an honest effort. I regret to this day not documenting all this and even taking pictures but we all have to start somewhere. Just wanted to write something on here quick, Say hello to all my fellow detecting enthusiasts and share a few of my past experiences before my time with The Ring Finders.
