Renee, her fiancé Kaleb, and some friends were “tubing” down their homemade slip ‘n slide and splashing into Governor Bond Lake near Greenville, Illinois. After several trips down the slide, Renee noticed her engagement ring was missing. Immediately, everyone began to visually search the grass areas around the slide with no luck. The following day, a friend who owns a metal detector, searched the area, including the water in front of the slide…only finding a few cans and pull tabs. Renee then decided to go online and found me on the Ring Finders website. She called me, and after answering her questions about our service, we set up a place and time to meet.
Since Renee had to work on the day of the search, I was met by Kaleb who escorted me to the site where the ring was lost. Renee had earlier sent me a video of someone going down the slide, so I already had a good idea of the terrain and water area. First, I decided to search in the water where the tube splashed into the lake. I donned my waders, turned on the Excalibur II, and began searching outward from the shore. After several steps, I got a good solid tone that sounded very promising. Upon retrieving the target from the water, I saw the white gold ring on top of the mud in the scoop.
I accompanied Kaleb to Renee’s workplace where he surprised her by placing her engagement ring back on her finger. As you can see in the picture, they were very happy indeed.
