Wedding Ring Recovered at Kailua Beach

  • from Waikīkī Beach (Hawaii, United States)

I got a phone call from a couple who had lost their wedding ring in the water at Kailua Beach. I let them know I needed to adjust my schedule, but I would be on my way to help.

After talking it over with my wife and kids, I packed up my gear and headed out with my son. During the 45-minute drive across Oahu, I gathered as much information as possible—exact location in the water, reference points on the beach, and the time the ring had been lost.

When we arrived, I met up with the couple, and they walked me down to the area where they believed the ring had slipped off. With the sun beginning to drop toward the horizon, I knew we were working against time.

I powered on my XP Deus II metal detector, marked out a search grid in the sand, and made my way into the water.

The conditions were challenging. The water was cold, visibility was limited, and the light was fading quickly. I began my search in the deeper section first, methodically sweeping back and forth. After completing my first pass, I turned and overlapped my path, slowly working my way toward shallower water.

Now in waist-to-chest deep water, I suddenly heard it—a strong, clean tone cutting through the background noise.

That unmistakable signal.

I dug into the sand and lifted my scoop.

There it was.

A beautiful wedding band resting inside.

I reached down, picked it up, and turned toward the shoreline where the couple stood watching anxiously. Holding the ring high, I called out, “I found it!”

Their reaction was immediate—they jumped with joy.

People nearby stopped to watch. As I made my way back to shore, holding the ring up high, the couple ran out to meet me. I placed the ring back into their hands, and in that moment, the relief and happiness were overwhelming.

We shared smiles, gratitude, and a big embrace.

As I looked around, I noticed several beachgoers clapping and smiling, caught up in the moment as well.

What started as a stressful situation ended in pure joy—another successful recovery and another memory saved.

Lost wedding ring… FOUND 💍

This recovery started as I got a call from Dave in Maui—Brian had lost his wife’s wedding ring on the beach. I was already nearby, so I told him, “I’ll be right there.”

It was a busy, sunny Hawaii day—people everywhere, swimming, relaxing… but somewhere in that sand was a missing ring with a lot of meaning behind it.

I fired up my XP Deus and started the search.

Brian met me and gave me a general area. First signal—just a penny.

Then… BOOM. A clean, solid tone.

I started brushing away the sand.

Brian told me they had taken their rings off the night before before jumping in the water… and it vanished.

As I moved the sand, I saw it… a diamond starting to shine through.

I looked up and asked, “What does the ring look like?”

He said, “It’s a diamond ring… my wife’s.”

I held it up—“Could this be it?”

His face said everything. “YES! That’s it!”

The sun hit the diamond just right as I lifted it from the sand… everything felt still for a moment.

He grabbed it, and we celebrated right there on the beach.

Another happy ending. Another ring back where it belongs. 🤙

Lost gold chain

  • from Waikīkī Beach (Hawaii, United States)

This recovery all started when I got a call from the ‘Ohana letting me know that a chain and pendant had been lost in the water at Poka‘i Bay. I was down the road when I got the call, so I quickly gathered all my gear and headed out to help.

When I arrived, I talked with Triton who is the brother of Mercedess and learned where they believe it was in the ocean and that one of our local lifeguards Mike Eckart had jumped in the water to help. I powered up my equipment, hit the water, and began working a few grids. After talking with the mike and covering the area, I finally got a solid tone — and there it was, right inside my scoop: a beautiful gold chain and pendant.

With a loud “CHEE-HOO!” I held up the scoop, and the kids who were showering and getting ready for a party started yelling, “Did you find it?!” I proudly held up the gold chain and said, “I found it. What was lost is now found.”

Mercedess walked down to the edge of the water and gratefully got the chain out of scoop. The beach was full of joy, and it was such an awesome moment to be a part of.

Mahalo for allowing me Mike to be a part of returning something so precious. What was lost is now found. Much love.

Lost Wedding Ring in Waikiki Beach

Lost Wedding Ring Found in Waikiki Beach

It all started when I got a call from Karla and Harvey about Harvey’s lost wedding band at Waikiki Beach. Knowing that Waikiki is a heavily searched area for metal detecting, I called Karla, Harvey’s partner, to gather more details. I wanted to plan my day carefully because time and conditions matter when there’s surf and other elements that com into play.

When I arrived at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Karla met me and walked me down to where she, Harvey, and their kids had been sitting. We pinpointed the general area where Harvey believed he’d lost the ring. I asked Harvey if he’d be willing to jump in the water with me to help narrow down the search. He agreed.

I fired up my XP Deus II detector, suited up, and waded out with Harvey to the reef where he thought he’d dropped it. I started a systematic grid search, pulling up nickels, pennies, fake chains—everything except his ring. After hours of searching in the choppy tide, I decided it was too challenging to continue, so I let Harvey know I’d come back the next morning.

Early the next morning, I packed my gear, headed back to Waikiki, and retraced my steps. I focused on the area Harvey described, but again, came up empty after hours of searching. I texted Harvey to let him know I hadn’t found the ring and needed to spend some time with my family. But I assured him I’d return.

The following morning, I repeated my routine—gear packed, car parked at the Royal Hawaiian—and decided to follow my gut instinct. I shifted my search to a different part of the beach, noticing more reef in this area. That made sense, given the conditions.

While scanning the reef shelf, I got a strong signal. Mask and snorkel on, I dove down, held onto the reef, and started digging. First scoop—still there. Second scoop—still there. Third scoop—and suddenly, I felt the ring slide onto my finger.

Holding my fist close to my mask in the murky water, I saw a beautiful 14-karat ring lined with diamonds. I surfaced and shouted, “I found it!” Curious beachgoers gathered around, and I explained that it was a lost wedding ring from a couple of days ago, now found. Everyone cheered—what an amazing feeling!

But Harvey and his family were no longer at Waikiki Beach. They’d moved on to Aulani, the Disney hotel on the other side of the island. I called Harvey and asked if we could meet.

I packed up, drove out to Aulani, parked in the valet, and waited. When Harvey walked down to meet me, I handed him his ring—he had no idea I’d found it. The joy and relief on his face were priceless.

Thank you, Karla and Harvey, for allowing me to be part of this special recovery. What was lost is now found. Another successful recovery—and a reminder that sometimes, persistence and instinct make all the difference.

Lost Wedding Ring at Waimea Bay — Found!

I got a text from Raymond about a lost wedding ring at Waimea Bay — his wife’s diamond ring. He explained that Reia had tucked her ring safely into her shorts pocket while enjoying the day at the beach, but when she checked later, it was gone.

They both went back to search the beach but couldn’t find it. That’s when they reached out to me. Raymond sent over photos and a description of the ring, along with the best details he could remember about where they’d been on the sand.

I told them I’d head down to the beach early the next morning and give it my best shot. When I arrived, the beach was already filling up with morning visitors, but in the area they’d described, there were only about 20 to 30 people — perfect conditions to start searching.

I got to work right away, carefully grid-searching the area with my metal detector. After about an hour and a half, though, I began to wonder if I might be searching in the wrong place. Sometimes memories of where something was lost can be tricky, especially on a wide-open beach like Waimea.

So I decided to try a different section, just to be sure. After about 20 minutes, I heard a great tone in my headphones — a promising sound. I dug a scoop and sifted through the sand, and there it was: a beautiful gold band with a diamond shining in the sun!

I held it high in the air, and the beachgoers around me cheered and clapped — “What was lost is now found!” Some even came over to take a closer look at the recovered ring, excited to see a happy ending right there on the beach.

That evening, I called Raymond and confirmed that I had indeed found Reia precious wedding ring. We met up shortly afterward so I could return it to them.

I’m always grateful to be part of these reunions — bringing a piece of someone’s story back to them is such a privilege. Thank you, Raymond and Reia , for trusting me to help.

Another successful recovery — mission accomplished!

Lost Wedding Ring found!

It all started with a missed call from Jack. He reached out to me on behalf of his wife, Aly, who had lost her wedding ring at the shoreline the previous evening. As a Ring Finder, every call is an opportunity to help restore something truly precious—and I was determined to help.

Jack provided me with detailed photos and described where he thought the ring had slipped off Aly’s finger. Based on his information, I planned to search at first light, when the tide and beach would be at their quietest.

At sunrise, I arrived at the beach, fired up my XP Deus 2 metal detector, and began to grid the sand systematically. After a while, I started to unearth several fishing weights—common clutter in beach hunting. Suddenly, my detector coil died. My heart sank for a moment, but I hustled back to my truck, hoping I had a spare. Luckily, I found an extra coil, swapped it out, and got back to work.

Returning to the search area, I continued gridding carefully. After a few more targets, I dug out another fishing weight. I rechecked the hole, and the detector sang once more. As I lifted my scoop, there it was—a beautiful ring gleaming in the morning sun!

There was no one else around on the beach, so I headed back to my truck, eager to call Jack with the good news. But wouldn’t you know it—my phone had died, too! I plugged it in to charge, and as soon as it powered on, I texted Jack to let him know the ring had been found.

Jack met me at the beach a little while later. I handed Aly’s beautiful wedding ring back to him—safe, sound, and sparkling.

Thank you, Jack and Aly, for allowing me to be a part of this special recovery. Returning lost items is always rewarding, but it’s even more meaningful when it’s something as precious as a wedding ring.

Lost Ring Recovered in Waimānalo!

I recently called Joe and while in conversation Joe let me know about a lost ring that’s in the water at Waimānalo Beach. Joe had already searched the beach area—combing through the beach and wet sand—but didn’t go out into the surf as it was like a washer machine and would of made it impossible to search in the water. Joe asked if I would give it a shot, and I gladly accepted.

After gathering all the details and adjusting my work schedule, I made the trip over the mountains to beautiful Waimānalo. Once there, I located the general area where Gabby believed the ring had been lost. I powered up my XP Deus II and started grid searching the area.

After multiple passes and a solid effort against the choppy surf, I began to think the ring might not be where she initially suspected. I pushed into deeper waters, hoping for better luck. Soon enough, I picked up a signal and dug—only to pull up a pull tab. Not giving up, I scanned the hole again and got another tone. I dug once more, and this time, sitting inside my extreme scoop was a stunning diamond ring!

Excited, I contacted Gabby right away. She was thrilled and verified the ring—it was hers! Later that evening, we met up at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, where I returned the ring. There were big smiles, relief, and a lot of joy.

It’s always an honor to help recover something so precious. Thank you, Gabby and Joe, for trusting me to help bring it back home.

Lost diamond rings in sand on the north shore of Oahu

  • from Waikīkī Beach (Hawaii, United States)

It all started when I got a phone call from Paul, his voice filled with panic. “We lost the wedding rings on the North Shore Sunset Beach!” he exclaimed, and I could hear the distress in his tone. I was at work in town, surrounded by the hustle and bustle, but my heart was already racing. I needed to get home, situate the kids with my wife, and grab my metal detector. This was a call I couldn’t ignore.

After a quick chat with my wife, I rushed home, adrenaline pumping through my veins. I informed Paul that I am on my way and will let you know when I was about twenty minutes out. I felt a surge of determination and the North Shore was my childhood playground, a place where the ocean waves comforted me as a child. I couldn’t wait to help them find the lost rings.

When I arrived at the beach, the parking lot was alive with activity. I met up with Paul and Heewon, their faces a mix of concern and hope. As I followed them down the sandy path to the spot where they thought the ring had slipped off, memories of my own childhood flooded back. I marked the area in my mind, ready to begin the search.

With my detector in hand, I made my first pass over the sand, the hum of the machine blending with the sound of crashing waves. Nothing. I took a deep breath and started my second run. Halfway through, the detector emitted a strong tone that sent a thrill down my spine. This was it! I scooped down, heart racing, and as I raised the scoop, there they were—two beautiful rings glimmering in the sunlight.

Excited, I looked up to share the moment with Paul and Heewon, but to my surprise, they weren’t looking my way. I approached them, holding up a piece of fishing lead I had found and asked, “this don’t look anything like your rings?” They shook their heads, still scanning the beach.

“Then what about this?” I said, revealing the scoop. “Inside the scoop!”

Suddenly, a shout of joy erupted from Paul and Heewon, their eyes wide with disbelief. “That is my rings!” he exclaimed, rushing toward me. The air was thick with celebration as beachgoers nearby turned to see what the commotion was about. They joined us in clapping and cheering, the sound echoing against the backdrop of waves crashing on the shore.

What was lost had been found, and the rings were back in their rightful hands. We all celebrated, laughter mixing with the sounds of the ocean. “Enjoy the rest of your trip here in Hawaii!” I said with a smile, feeling grateful to have played a part in this joyful reunion.

As I walked back along the beach, the sun setting in a blaze of color, I felt a warmth in my heart. The North Shore had once again woven its comfort, reminding me that sometimes, the simplest acts of kindness bring the greatest joy.

ITS A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I got a call about a lost wedding ring from Kuuipo. She explained how the ring was lost and I asked her to draw me out a map to help narrow the search area. After gathering as much information as possible I was faced with a hunt that was either gonna be on a lawn close to the beach or on the sand. I gathered my family and headed down to the spot. After careful searching on the lawn to no avail I started my way  onto the beach. As I started my gridding pattern towards the ocean I picked up a few coins which made me very happy because I knew that no one else came to this beach and metal detected. after my first pass down the beach I started my second leg while overlapping and around midway through I hear a tone that would make anyone stop in their tracks. I dig in the sand gently being careful and inside the Xtreme scoop is what was lost and now found a beautiful diamond ring. I smile as I retrieve the ring while onlookers are in anticipation. I say loudly … she will be happy. The beach goers asked if I was looking for something and I replied not no more. I get to call her about the good news. I found her lost ring! Another successful find.

Lost wedding ring found

  • from Waikīkī Beach (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find started out in the afternoon when I got a call from Bre telling me that she lost her wedding ring at the beach. I got home and talked to my wife about the unpleasant lost. She encouraged me to go out to the other side of the island to help Bre and see if I can find this loss Ring. I packed up my truck with my equipment and head out to the west side. While on my way to Maili Beach I’m in traffic and I ended up getting rear ended.  Bre is waiting for me and I need to update her on my situation. When I called to explain to Bre she quickly empathized with me and said maybe we should set this up for another day. I immediately deferred said I am halfway there and the sun is setting soon so it will be best if I get out there as soon as possible and give it a try. I arrive to the beach and was met by Bre and her beautiful family. She explains to me the area of which she was swimming with her family two days prior when she lost the ring. I gathered my gear and turned on the Equinox 800.  as I started to enter the water I noticed there were a lot of targets and the place I was looking in was at the end of a river mouth runoff.  The amount of trash and targets i found filled my pockets. After searching for a couple hours I realized that maybe I need to come back when the water visibility gets better as it’s murky and cloudy. As I start to head in, I hear a faint sound and thought to myself, should I dig it or just wait until another time? I decided to give it a dig and after three big scoops there in the bottom of my extreme scoop is a beautiful Hawaiian heirloom diamond wedding ring. I look up to notice Bre and the kids sitting on the shoreline. I approach Bre with a few questions concerning the ring. But, I noticed she doesn’t have her mask. Because when she came down to meet me at the beach i noticed it in her hand. And now no mask! I asked her… where’s your mask and She told me a young gentleman named Keone young came up to her while I was searching and asked if he could borrow it so he could look for his keys that he lost while surfing and when he finds it he’ll come back and help her take a look for her loss wedding ring. Well, after hearing that story I noticed she was on a FaceTime call with her sister. I asked her sister explain to me what the ring looks like and she along with Bre describe the ring that I found. As the FaceTime call is transpiring I tell the family well there’s no need for me to ask anymore questions because… and that’s when I pulled out my hand and in my finger tips I held the once lost ring and said “ it was lost… but now found!” And they both were excited and shocked. I gave the ring back to Bre and said it’s time for me to rinse off. I head over to the showers and start to rinse off my equipment when I get approached by a young gentleman with a longboard. He asked me did you find it? The ring! I smiled and pulled out the ring and let him know it was lost and now found. With a big smile on his face holding his hands in the air was a mask and a string with a key! This  was Keone Young the surfer Bre told me about lending her mask to and here he is just as excited as we are because he found his key. Bre, Keone and myself all grateful and sharing  stories filled with Aloha and as we rinse off the sun started to set behind us which gave a warm feeling of bliss. We all agree that this day was filled with blessings and to find the things that was lost means so much to us. Another great recovery and another happy family!
