I received a call today from Terry about finding 2 gold rings lost in his yard. I packed up my metal detector and the rest of my gear and headed over to his house and found him outside waiting on me. After showing me the location and noticing power lines overhead I knew this might be a challenge because he had searched with a neighbors metal detector for several hours and only found trash. I first had him cone off the area with my orange grid cones to see how big of area I would need to search. I started my search and within 3 min I heard the sweet sound of gold and found the first ring the 2nd ring about 5 min later. The smile on his face said it all. I ask him how he found me and he said he found theringfinders website and called me right away. I love my job and meeting good people.
I used my whites V3i metal detector. The vdi reading came in at 26 for the larger ring and 25 for the smaller diamond ring.
(Overhead power lines and metal detectors don’t mix. They can make your detector go crazy with faults signals (ghost signals) if your detector is not set up properly that is why most people using detectors for the first time give up.)
