Found diamond and platinum wedding band lost in lake Oconee, GA

  • from Talking Rock (Georgia, United States)

Got a call from a very nice young lady this past Sunday about losing her grandmother’s beautiful heirloom diamond inlaid platinum ring in lake Oconee, Georgia. She put me in the approximate  area where she had unfortunately dropped the ring off the dock and into the murky brown water.  The water temp was “less than desirable” to say the least…. lol.  I suited up and grabbed my trusted 27 year old White’s Surfmaster PI and dove into the frigid chest deep water along with my homemade long handled scoop.  An hour and a half later, a dozen or so rusty bolts, screws, nails, etc… I get one last good tone.  I dump the rocky contents of my scoop onto the dock and out erupts a scream of overwhelming JOY!!!!  There it is she yells!!!  Woohoo!!! I’m not sure who was happier, she or I, as I knew I was finally getting out of that frigid hypothermic water…. hahaha.  I couldn’t have been more happy though in the simple fact that I was able to reunite this nice lady with an item that could have been gone forever had it not been for our great Ring Finders organization!!  It turned out to be a great day for all. God Bless.

  1. Great job, Greg!!!! And way to bare that cold water! I’m so happy to hear that you were able to find her mother’s or grandmother’s ring for her!

I was one of the other Ring Finders she tried to call. I think she tried a closer one first, but they didn’t have waterproof gear. I’m in Huntsville, so this would’ve been almost a 5 hour drive for me. I told her that I didn’t mind the trip, but asked if she could find someone closer. If not, I was more than happy to come out. Glad it all worked out in the end!
