I received a girl from a woman asking for my help finding her lost class ring that she had lost on the beach earlier in the week? She explained that she had taken the ring off to apply sunscreen and laid it on her beach towel but had forgotten to put it back on and didn’t realize util later that evening while home.
I was able to go to the section of beach the following morning to begin my search. This could a tough one as its not only a heavily searched beach by others with metal detectors but also gets groomed by the beach rake tractor daily that can not only move the ring but also bury it deep in the sand. The good thing was that where she was sitting by the rock jetty and the beach entrance is also a turn around point for the beach tractor and many things accumulate in this area rather than disappear quickly. I began searching the area using a grid pattern back and forth towards the water picking up multiple coins and trash items for the next hour. As I got closer to the rock jetty and large drainage pipe I began getting false signals from detector from the iron and minerals so I turned down the sensitivity some and proceeded until I was right on top of the rocks and pipe buried just beneath the sand and that’s when I got a good signal from my metal detector. I scooped up the sand and as I shook the scoop I could hear something clanking around which turned out to be her class ring! We met up the next weekend for the return. Another successful recovery! Another happy customer!
