This First Ring I Found
We all have someone who introduced us to that one thing we would want to do if we had an hour to sneak away. Maybe mom, dad, older brother or grand-parent. For some it is baseball or hockey, or maybe chess. Well, for me it was my father introducing me to the sport of metal detecting. I found a 10 karat women’s gold ring with him when I was 12. It was in a town park and I was using a White’s Beachcomber metal detector my dad had bought at Radio Shack. To this day I spend a few weekends each year with my dad searching for treasure. He is in his 70’s and still loves to detect. Adults have so much influence on a child’s interests and hobbies. I was just lucky my dad was a treasure hunter.
