Lost wedding ring found in San JoseHere in the San Francisco Bay area, we all go through a routine in November: clean your gutters and prepare for rain, because the next few months are likely to get wet. Eddie cleaned his gutters on Friday, scooping out leaves and debris from each section, then moving the ladder and doing it again. He was almost done when he noticed that his wedding ring was missing. This happens a lot: your hand gets cold and wet, and the ring slips right off your hand.

Eddie searched  for a couple of hours but couldn’t find the ring. He knew he was wearing it when he started the job, so he bought a metal detector and tried using that. Unfortunately, with the stress of losing your wedding ring, it can be pretty hard to learn how to use a metal detector! So he called TheRingFinders.

I made it over to Eddie’s house on Sunday morning. He showed me everywhere he had worked on the gutters, and was very confident that the ring had been on his finger when he started. So I started searching. The only thing that slowed me down was the hedges and plants: they were pretty thick along one side of the house. We even thought we got a signal from the top of a thick hedge where Eddie had thrown a pile of leaves, but that turned out to be a dead end.

Eddie and his wife Margaret gave up hope after a couple of hours, but I kept hunting. There was one section of planter bed that we had skipped because it required searching on my hands and knees with a small, handheld metal detector called a pinpointer. It only took a couple of minutes in that bed before the pinpointer started beeping like mad. There, against the concrete and covered by mulch, was the ring.

Everybody went away happy that morning!
