Dave was playing basketball in his back yard with his 12-year-old son. He flung his hand out to catch the ball and felt his wedding ring fly off his finger. His son saw it bounce in the grass. There was plenty of light. So why couldn’t they find the ring?
Dave and his sons tried everything they could think of. They searched on their hands and knees. They raked the lawn and searched the rakings. They rented a metal detector. But they could not find the ring.
Dave called me this morning, and I made it to his home in Los Altos (near Palo Alto, in Santa Clara County) this afternoon. He showed me where he was standing, right at the edge of the basketball court, and where he though the ring had ended up. I fired up my detector and started searching…
…and found the lost ring on my first swing! The ring was right at the corner of the lawn and the court. Our best guess is that they raked it there when they were searching, because Dave’s son definitely saw it bounce further back in the lawn.
Everyone went away happy today! Thanks Dave!
