Carol contacted me yesterday after her overly-enthusiastic dog broke the solitaire diamond and setting off her platinum ring. Here is what she wrote:
“I hope you can use my story on your blog!
“Wednesday night, while walking my dog, I pulled him back from an approaching dog, and managed to break the diamond off of my solitaire ring (claws and all). We looked around with flashlights, quickly realizing it was the proverbial needle in a haystack, and went home. I was completely at a loss as to what to do – when I went on line to try and rent a metal detector, I came across your Ring Finders website.
“Thursday morning, I gave Dave Millman a call at 11 am, and he agreed to meet me at 12:30 to ‘find my ring.’ Dave explained that with the force of me pulling the leash – the diamond may have flew into the road, and that his metal detector couldn’t be used on it. He encouraged me to look through the leaves – which I did. I felt kind of useless just standing watching him, and hearing the metal detector go off over nails, and pipes in the lawn, so I went over next to the side walk, and started brushing leaves out of the edging of the lawn, since I figured that the sidewalk rebar would also set off false positives. Within 30 minutes, I found the top of my solitaire!!!
“Even though this isn’t a ‘pure’ Ring Finders story, I give the credit to Dave for finding my ring. He was so positive and encouraging. He kept saying ‘let’s find it.’ He gave me hope, and direction – I wouldn’t have found it if he hadn’t been doing his work, which gave me the focus on a certain area! (There must have been a bit of Divine intervention there too!!). Thank you Dave!
