I received a call from a friend of the family who lost his ring in a very silty weedy lake in the area. The ring had been lost while trying to cover his friends pontoon boat. I assured him I’d be out the following day, and to keep foot traffic in the area to a minimum due to the soft silty bottom.
The following day I arrived and was met by Ryan and his friend who seemed a little embarrassed. After a little questioning, I determined them both had searched the day earlier for several hours by wading and snorkeling the area. The bottom of this lake literally had 3′ of silt and soft mud before you reach a solid bottom, making searching very difficult. After approximately an hour, I located the ring 25-30′ away from where it had thought to have been lost. Absolutely an awesome dive!
