Most of the public beach access in the St.Pete, Clearwater area as well as street parking have parking meters which makes sense if you just want to occasionally spend a day at the beach but I find it prohibitive if like me you go metal detecting 3-5 days a week. For me to go to Clearwater Beach I have to cross the Skyway, $2.50 round trip, plus $5.00 for gas plus $10.00 parking that destroys a twenty dollar bill. Its the rare day I go home with that much in beach finds. Fortunately I live in Bradenton and hunt Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key beaches. Both of these barrier islands have lots of beach access and it’s FREE PARKING.
