Cullowhee: Western North Carolina

  • from Sylva (North Carolina, United States)

I’m here to make it happen! All we can do is try. I’m located in the mountains of western NC and have returned two rings to date. Hopefully, that number will increase. I have also recently returned a pre Vietnam dog tag. I am at your beck and call. Barb

      Barb,
My daughter is a DPT student at WCU. She lost a ring I gave her for her high school graduation while playing volley ball at her apartment complex. We would like to understand what your compensation would be if you do find the ring.

    Barb,

Everyone is a little different. But throughout the field I have noticed it is common to be paid by what you can afford and on a reward basis.

I charge usually $25.00 dollars standard base for travel if we have a recovery or not. That amount will very on distance traveled etc. Then it is all whatever the clients wants to give, depending on the amount of time and efforts put forth to find your item. We understand that not everyone can afford big rewards. But we believe in people, while our equipment, time, is not free. We can’t keep it up without those that can offer a little more – great, and just appreciate that we have done something for someone else without expecting much in return.

The last one I did I spent hours there, didn’t find and didn’t charge. It was a shot in the dark to begin with as she put it in her bra and didn’t know where she lost it, but I tried for free. 🙂

Hi Barb, I live in Maggie Valley and I’m retired I have a metal detecting group on Facebook “Maggie Valley Metal Detecting ” I’m fairly new at metal detecting but I have some good equipment and two years of practice. I would be interested in talking to you about your experiences and getting involved in ring finders to help people. I would also like to do some exploring if you want. What do you think?
