Sentimental massive silver and gold ring lost in cedar bushes Bolton, Caledon, Ontario

Three to four months ago Liz was throwing out a rotten jalapeño pepper over a fence into 15’ high thick cedar bushes. She watched her silver and gold ring fly off her hand in the same general direction. Liz searched for days and a few months and wasn’t successful in finding her ring.

Liz purchased her ring while visiting Portugal ti attend her Grandmother’s 100 Birthday 7 years ago! So the ring had special meaning to her.

Two weeks ago Liz and her Husband were watching Toronto CityTV news reporter Audra Brown’s segment on the global organization called “The Ting Finders”. The showed a couple of my ring recoveries and the charity aspect! Liz’s Husband said, this is for you!

After initial contact, I made arrangements to visit Liz in the small town of Bolton early Saturday morning!

Liz had shown me the area she threw the rotten jalapeño pepper and had cut back a number of lower cedar branches to get better access. Liz also mentioned that the silver ring was quite large, heavy and very loose on her finger!

My first thought was the trajectory of the rings path because of the weight. My second thought was the ring could be stuck up in the crooks of the upper branches.

First pass on her side of the cedars was unsuccessful which took approximately 20 minutes. I then proceeded down the back side of the cedars which was on her neighbours property and BINGO!! I heard the high tone of sweet silver! Looked down and saw the rim!

I walked back to the other side and surprised Liz  immediately compared to my usual slightly drawn out way!

18k English Gold Wedding Band Lost 16 Years ago in Professors Lake, Brampton, Region of Peel, ON

I was contacted by James way back in late February of this year inquiring if I could search for his lost wedding band and what the process is. The 18k English gold wedding band was lost within 15m of the edge at a specific spot into Professors Lake in Brampton, ON. His wedding band was actually lost 16 years ago!

I explained that I would need special permission to search that area of the Lake and I would start early to mid summer if permission was received.

I reached out to James in early June and was connected to his Father-in-Law Brian who is a local resident in the area of the Lake.

After weeks of trying to obtain permission I received the go-ahead from Commissioner Parks prior to his retirement.

The next day I had teamed up with James’ Father-in-Law Brian unbeknownst to James and we proceeded to the area. I was also very grateful for my work colleague Carlos for keeping an eye on the situation as I deemed Brian my water safety spotter.

With-in 20 minutes of entering the water, pulling out old pop cans, a glass jar, fishing lures and garbage, I heard the sweet tone of gold on my underwater metal detector. I pulled out the underwater pin pointer and zoned in on the lost wedding band. WE FOUND IT!!

Next day I met with Brian and proceeded to FaceTime James pretending to ask more questions about the lost wedding band. We completed the task of surprising James with much surprise and delight. James then planned to surprise his lovely Wife on their 17th Wedding Anniversary day while spending it with Family. It was priceless!

James had also inscribed the wedding band with “What was lost is now found”. Beautiful.

Tiffany and Company platinum wedding band lost in DUBE Lake, Orrville, Seguin, Parry Sound, ON

Tim and Family were enjoying a peaceful summer vacation at a tranquil cottage on Dube Lake in beautiful Orrville, Seguin Falls in the District of Parry Sound, Ontario! Absolutely amazing area in Northern Ontario Muskoka’s cottage country!

Tim went in for a dip in the refreshing waters, pushed off the dock approximately 10’ to 14’ out, waved his hands and his Tiffany & Co platinum wedding band was not longer on his left ring finger.

With the help of a Google search, ‘The Ring Finders’ directory popped up and Tim was referred to my Ring Finders home page and blog recovery stories.
I had a lovely sunny fresh morning 3 hour drive to Ontario’s fabulous cottage country!

Met the family, geared up, coaxed the snapping turtle “Fred” to relocate, and Tim showed exactly what he doing when he lost his wedding band in the 6’ wide by 12’ length area.

Off I went into the very dark waters to start my underwater search with the Dive BLU3 Nomad battery operated hookah air system, my trusty Minelab Excalibur2 underwater metal detector and the Deteknix pin pointer.

Once I was approximately 10’ out I was 12’ depth and I heard the unmistakable tone of platinum on my detector. It was complete black visibility even to turn on my pin pointing. I had to move up to 6’ depth to see the on button and then proceeded back down to the target area to re-locate Tim’s wedding band.

Finally l, with the help of the pin pointer, I was able to here / feel the ring just tucked in behind a branch and popped back up to the surface to surprise Tim and Family!

It took roughly 7 minutes because of Tim’s accuracy of the area where he lost his wedding band! I love “quickies”!

Michael Hill Diamond engagement ring lost at Wasaga Beach, Georgian Bay, Simcoe, ON

Nicole was spending a day at Wasaga Beach 3 with girlfriends in celebration of a special Friends birthday.

They packed up and returned to the parked car and noticed her Michael Hill diamond engagement ring was missing. Panic set in and she could not find her engagement ring!

I was summoned up to Wasaga Beach 3 to help Nicole. Spent hours on the beach grid searching the area she thought they had the two birthday tents set up. Had no luck but cleaned up the beach of its trash! And there was a ton of trash!

On a 2nd outing a few days later and alongside another detectorist that offered help, John L helped by gridding the water area in front of my beach search area to cover more ground.

A gentleman (beach regular) had noticed us searching and advised he saw the birthday party. He also stated the party area was further over to the west.

After advising Nicole she reviewed her photos and agreed the area was a bit more west. At the end of the day we also searched the pathway out to the start of the road. Absolutely no luck!

Well, spoke again to Nicole and decided to meet back at the beach for a 3rd and final attempt!
I remembered her stating when they were close to the car, the gals heard something drop. They looked down and saw a hairband. Therefore, I decided to work from the parked car area back to the beach pathway!!

Five minutes into the search and I had a solid double tone in my Minelab Equinox 800…. ON THE FREAKING ROADWAY under 1/4” of sand!!!!!
My coil had swept some of the sand away and I caught a glimpse of the bottom of the ring!!!
ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!! We found her engagement ring on the Ontario Parks roadway into beach 3 parking lot!! I even started to cry!!!

We were both numb with disbelief from finding her engagement ring on the roadway and I think Nicole was in a bit of shock too! NEVER GIVE UP even after one or two attempts and being stubborn not to give up!

Recovered Breitling watch from Penetanguishene Bay, Georgian Bay, Midland, ON

Shelby’s Family and Friends had a wonderful week long vacation but unfortunately her Mother Marcie lost her beautiful watch just off the dock.
I headed up to Midland / Penetanguishene area early in the morning! I used the Minelab Excalibur2 underwater metal detector, underwater pin pointer and the Dive BLU3 Nomad hookah system!

We had success in recovering Marcie’s gorgeous sentimental watch and it showed how very happy she was!

Prescription Ray Ban sunglasses lost in the waters of Lake Muskoka, Port Carling, ON

Had a message from repeat customers Ellen & Stephen that their Friends were visiting their home in Port Carling.

Their Friend tried out the paddle board and unfortunately tumbled into the water just off the dock area dropping his prescription Ray Ban sunglasses into the water below. The depth was approximately 8’ deep with half decent visibility and they knew the exact area.

I used my Dive BLU3 Nemo battery operated hookah system which has a 10’ hose and was perfect for this recovery.

I proceeded to the area and caught a glimpse of the inside white portion of the plastic arms in a matter of 10 seconds!

Lost iPhone 12 recovered after 7 weeks in the waters of Georgian Bay, Wasaga Beach, ON

Emily was visiting The waters of Georgian Bay at Wasaga Beach 1 for the day with Friends.

She was way out by the buoy’s about 500’ from shore in floaty rafts! A wave came from behind and toppled her over and unfortunately her purple iPhone 12 was dropped.

She contacted me and we met up at beach 1. The depth was 7’ to 9’ but due to rough conditions and a bit of an undertow the DIVE BLU3 Nemo couldn’t be used. I then decided to grid search best I could for 5-6 hours but had no luck!

Seven, YES SEVEN weeks later I was searching for a young man’s 22k gold ring and came across a strong wonky signal with the new Nokia Legend metal detector!

*B*A*M* second scoop and one foot down and there’s Emily’s purple iPhone 12!!!! I couldn’t believe my eyes but also the location was 400’ east and only 150’ of the shore line!!!!

When I finished detecting for the day I had a bag of rice in my car and immediately put her iPhone in and hoping for the best!

Two days later, I FaceTimed Emily to surprise her! She was shocked to say the least! I proceeded with her permission to plug it in and it worked!! Best part… it was confirmed her iPhone!!

Not only did Emily back up her iPhone on a weekly basis but she had AppleCare for a full free replacement!!

Sentimental ring lost in 15’ of cottage lake water Severn, Georgian Bay, Huntsville, ON

Had an emergency call from a girlfriend I hadn’t seen in a couple of years as she lost a very sentimental ring into a Georgian Bay lake in beautiful cottage country of Muskoka, Ontario. (respecting her privacy / area not to be named)

She tossed a line into the water to tow her SeaDoo back to the dock. Unfortunately her ring flew off her hand into 15’ of cold water. She had the smarts to immediately note two landmarks and called me immediately!

I was excited to head up to her location with brand new gear to test out along with finding her precious ring.

I made arrangements for the following weekend even though waters were roughly 12C. I met her at the marina and headed to her beautiful home!

All my gear was set up, checked and off I went with her as my spotter. My new DIve BLU3 Nomad Hookah system worked great alongside the new underwater metal detector the Nokta Makro “Legend”, and my underwater circular gridding tool.

On the 3rd outing after I moved my circular gridding tool closer to shore, I had a solid double tone! I was hoping this was it because I was starting to get cold! Second grasp of silty debris and I had the beautiful ring!! Now the surprise…

I came up and handed over my gridding tool and detecting, went into her dock area and then the surprise!! Priceless! She was absolutely thrilled!!!

22k gold wedding band lost at Bluffer’s Beach in Toronto, ON

Akshay was visiting Bluffer’s Beach in the east end of Toronto.

He was assisting with the lines for the volleyball net, went to wash his hands and afterwards noticed his precious 22k gold wedding band was missing!

I met with Akshay very early morning 2 days later and we were lucky to find his ring within 5 minutes!

Incredible 22k 10g engagement band lost in the waters at Sibbald Point Provincal Park, Sutton West, ON

Dhawal & Khushi we’re visiting the beautiful Sibbald Point Provincial Park on the shores of Lake Simcoe for the very first time last Saturday!

Dhawal had applied sunscreen all over as well as his hand area. The group headed into the water, talking photos, swimming and splashing about. Dhawal then noticed his 22k engagement band was missing!

Another Ring Finder Stephane was called and re-directed Dhawal to me. I discussed with Dhawal that I needed Parks permission and proceeded to apply in writing as directed by the Parks Superintendent. We immediately heard back and we’re ready to attend the location after work!

Luckily the waters were calm on Lake Simcoe, started grid searching back and forth moving easterly. Found a pair of prescription reading glasses which I notified Parks office in hopes to return them to their rightful owner.

After a Parks Ranger stopped by and checked my credentials, 3 minutes later I had a solid 34 on the new Nokta Legend at 4” to 6” inches down! Then it was surprise time!!
