Found Wedding Band

On Thursday Jan. 12th I received a call from State  Farm Insurance asking If I was the Ring Finder. The message was on my answering machine, which I saw when I got home from work. It was too late to contact State Farm then, so I had to wait until Friday morning.

I have an online Coaching school I am taking on Fridays and Saturday mornings. I am taking the Coaching class to be able to do Coaching and Consulting in the finding of Treasure. I have already used a lot of skills that I have learned in the recovery of Treasure.   A couple things I have learned is to really listen  what the client says and then asking  important  questions to make rcovery faster.

Back to State Farm insurance, of course, I thought that I would be looking for a large diamond ring. Because it was an Insurance claim I was thinking about asking a percentage of appraised value. So after I gave the claim # to the State Farm agent I preceded to ask questions about the ring. Of course, they were asking right away what I charged. When I found out that it was just a Gold Wedding Band (mans) I did not go with a percent fee. (was thinking of 10% to 15%). I went with .50 cents per mile and $30 per hour.

I learned at the coaching school that many Coaches get $25 to $50 per hour after they completed the basic course. Because I had successfully completed the basic and am now taking the intermediate course, I chose $30 per hour. And because I make 1/2 of my income in the treasure hunting field.

I went to the location in West Des Moines, Iowa and preceded to talk to Cameron. I had Cameron fill out The Ring Finders Search form, main reason was in case I found any thing else of value under the deck. Yes, I had to go under the deck, man was it a tight fit. Glad it is winter so I did not have to worry about Bugs and Spiders. I did put on a mask to protect my self from any air borne allergens as there was a lot of webs and dog hairs under the deck.

It was a good thing I had a Garrett Pro Pointer as there was not enough room to use a regular metal detector. I also had taken with was a flash light, lawn rake, garden rake, spade, hammer, cordless drill, and a large magnet( to pick up screws and nails under the deck.  I worked under the deck for around 40 – 45 minutes, did find screws and nails, small pieces of siding, but no ring. Those rocks I was laying on started to feel like bolders.  I decided it was time to take a break and ask a few more questions and to make sure the ring didn’t get stuck on top of the deck some where.
At that point I was introduced to Sarah, Cameron’s wife. I had Cameron show me again on how he was brushing the dog with his hand, when he had lost his ring.  Then Cameron had to get ready to go to work so I continued to talk to Sarah.  As I stood there, I thought it must be under the deck because there was no where else for the ring to go. Since where Cameron was brushing the dog there is the screened in part of the deck, I knew that when the ring hit the screen it would have bounced off of it and rolled back toward Cameron and fell through the deck.
As I was talking to Sarah, a slight breeze was blowing and the screen moved (it looked as if some time maybe a dog walked through the screen and loosened it).  I noticed the screen move and I saw something on top of the deck inside the screened in part.  I reached through the damaged screen and picked up the gold ring. Sarah said, “No that can’t be it on top of the deck!”
I handed the ring to Sarah and asked her if it was Cameron’s  ring. She stated yelling for Cameron to come and see his ring.
Sorry Chris, couldn’t get a picture of a smile but I did get a picture of the ring.  So maybe 2012 will be the year to find lots of Gold rings.

I’ll leave you with this thought  How is Business Building and Treasure Hunting success the same?        If you want my answer email me at diggold@metc.net     Lets have Blessed an successful 2012.  Maybe I’ll see you on the beaches of the world.

Two calls in two days. Lost rings, Tauranga and Lake Taupo New Zealand

January 7th, 2012 by

Well, you just never know … I haven’t had a call for months and suddenly I received two calls in two days from distraught owners who had lost their rings. They found my details after doing a quick google search and coming up with theringfinders.com!

The first job was in Tauranga, which is over 2 hours drive from my location. The couple, Will and Rebecca Cass, had emptied a bag into the garden on private property and the platinum ring dropped out and immediately disappeared into the undergrowth. Before I arrived, they had searched the location for hours and removed a large amount of the leaves and branches. I arrived and carefully scanned the area. There was a lot of rusted iron flakes which made my Garrett Pro Pointer pretty well redundant. I set my Garrett ACE 250 to the jewelery setting and went to work. I eventually made my way to the deck area and there was only enough room to get my arm and the pointer under there. The LED light on the pointer was invaluable for this exercise. I fished out a bottle top, some metal fragments, and finally I started picking up a signal in a hole full of leaves and mud. The LED light caught a glimpse of shinny metal and, bingo! There it was. The owners were absolutely relieved and thrilled and they were extremely generous with a reward!

The second call was a similar case, except they were two white gold and diamond rings which fell out of a bag and were quickly swallowed up by the gravelly  volcanic sand that lines the beaches of Lake Taupo. Donnee and Daniel Murray spent a long time searching for them, but finally they gave up hope, until they came   across theringfinders.com! I was unable to get there until late  the following evening. It was raining, but I find this is a nice quiet time to get on with the job. I was shown an approximate area they could be and within seconds got the first signal. The first ring indicated 5 inches under the sand and I found it after using a sand shovel with holes and my Garrett Pointer. I was surprised it had already gone so deep, but the more the sand got disturbed on the surface, the deeper the ring would work its way down. The second ring was found a couple of minutes later at about the same depth about 30cm away. The owners partner was present and took the rings home to a very, very  happy lady!

 TESTIMONIAL FROM TAURANGA

Dear Tony

On behalf of my wife and I may I say thanks once again for what you did which was nothing short of a miracle as far as we are concerned. Its more than the hi-tec electronic gear you have, you are actually a ‘ring-finder’ not just a guy with a metal detector. The way you methodically searched and found the ring using a process of elimination was astounding. Your manor and professionalism were also much appreciated, we only wish you could have stayed for lunch! But considering you drove 2 hours each way on your day off to help us because we were on holiday,… we are deeply thankful you responded to our call.

Cheers Tony I we are delighted to recommend your services to anybody who needs anything found!

Here is a link to all the images we took. I may have some more om my wifes phone and Ill add them in later.
Cheers and best of luck in the future (you have already had more success I have heard.. great work!)
Will

Diamond and Gold Ring Lost in 1959….Recovered in 2010 by The Ring Finders Deldon Krueger

February 15th, 2011 by

I got a Call last spring around Mid April from a lady who told me a story about a ring she had lost.  It all began in 1959 when she was 9 yrs old.  she had been playing dress up in her moms room and had been putting on her moms costume jewelry…except one piece she had put on was a “butterfly” gold ring with a diamond in the center and 8 other gems in the wings (a birthstone ring) from her Great grandmother who had passed it down to her mother and one day to her…but not yet, not at the age of 9 in 1959.  Her Mom told her that one day the ring would belong to her.  A few days later she had become obsessed with the ring and snuck it out of her moms jewelry box and wore it to school one day,  a small 2 room school house, out in the country, 12 miles from the nearest town.   My first thought was “Oh wow, like Little House on the Prairie”, then she asked me to go find the ring…I was doubtful that I could locate the ring.  51 years had passed and she had no idea where on the playground she lost it.  Myself and my “team” got permission from the church that now owned the school house building to do our search.  when we got to the site we staked out and gridded the property, she said she had lost it on the playground, so we headed there first.  after about 3 hours we realized that where we were searching had been back filled with about 10 inches of dirt since my metal detector had found a Mt. Dew can about 10 inches down in the ground near the swing set…and there was a date in the concrete  of the swing set dated 1979…we were a little frustrated by now and not sure what to do, so I called Jean and asked here where exactly she used to play.  Evidently where we were searching had been where the outhouses and trash pits had been back in 1959 and there was a foundation there as well that we later found out was the horse barn.   Jean explained that the old playground was to the east of the school house.   about 100 yards from where we began our search.   We decided to pull up our stakes and grid the east side of the building, and withing an hour my Metal Detector got a sweet low tone that I have know to be the sound of gold, it was pretty feint but it was there none the less.  I made a wide divot so as not to damage what ever was in the soil with my digging tool.  I pulled out a plug about 7 inches wide and about 10 inches down then scanned the whole with my Pin Pointer….Nothing, that was good news because that means whatever it was, was in the plug of soil I had dug up.  I scanned my Garrett ProPointer around the plug  and bingo, she started chirping away, within moment I began to break the plug apart  until I found the object of my search, the amazing thing about gold is it never Rust or corrodes, 51 years in the dirt and it still gleamed.  the stones and mountings were caked with dirt and grime but after taking it home and cleaning it up real good it looked as good as new.   I called Jean in Florida and told her the good news, she cried….and thanked me endlessly, I shipped her the ring and a week later she sent me $1000 and a thank you card.  I was blown away, she didn’t have to do that but it was greatly appreciated, I split the money with my Team and we donated 25% to the American Cancer Society.  That is just one of the many stories of my successful recoveries….so tell me, what did you lose?
