Ring recovered from bushes in Greeley, Colorado

August 10th, 2011 by

The night before their scheduled departure to return to Arizona while visiting the family of her boyfriend in Greeley, Colorado Danielle Crook lost a ring that was given to her by her boyfriend. A hand full of people searched the driveway and area of rock and bushes that separated the neighbor’s property from theirs. They searched in earnest for over two hours with no luck. There was a mat of leaves that blanketed the river rock area that contained the bushes that made a visual search seem nearly impossible.

Danielle found my profile on “Ring Finders” and sent me an email around 11:00 that night explaining that she was leaving the next day so time was a critical factor. I responded to her email early that next morning and told her to call me ASAP and we should be able to work something out. Within minutes I received a call from Danielle and we arranged for me to search for her ring which was white gold with a diamond adorning its top. I readied my gear, strapped it onto my motorcycle and headed out to meet Danielle.

Upon arrival introductions were made and I further inquired as to how the ring became lost. Come to find out a dispute had come about and the ring was tossed aside in the heat of the moment. Almost instantaneously Danielle regretted what she had just done and wished she could take it back. She could not remember how she had tossed the ring, right or left handed. I had her toss another ring with a several inches of sting tied onto it with both hands while in the seated position she was in the night before.

I began my search in the area of the consistent landing spot from her right handed toss. Using my metal detector I began searching the leafy rock area first without success. I then switched to searching the branches of the bushes, the branches were small in diameter but long and filled with leaves.  Within a minute I heard the tone of white gold come from my machine. I separated the branches of the bushes and there was a pretty little ring hung up on a branch in the middle of the bush about 24” above the ground. I called Danielle over to see the ring for herself, I almost had to put my figure on it for her to be able to see the ring. Within 12 hours of contacting me Danielle had her ring back on her hand. She was quite happy to get her ring back and this made their flight back to Arizona a much better flight.

Manistee River in Northen Michigan gives up a mans diamond ring

July 17th, 2011 by

"mom will be happy we found it"

After recieving a call from Nancy Hoyt of Kingsley, Michigan that her husband Jeff lost his wedding band with a large diamond that was passed down to him by his mother, I jumped into action. Searching Google earth I located their remote cabin on the edge of the beautiful Manistee River, just north of Manton, MI
After 30 minutes I located the ring in about 4 feet of fast moving water. Although the water was crystal clear and cool the swirling current made it difficult to locate and scoop the target mixed with sand and one inch size rocks.

Lost diamond ring Bradford Beach, Milwaukee… FOUND!

An innocent  flip of a beach towel catapulted Pamela’s precious ring into the abyss of endless loose sand.  Despite her best search efforts, and those of her friends, the ring seemed destined to never to grace her finger again.  And its story might well have ended were it not for the phone call Pamela made to a Wisconsin member of The Ring Finders.–Paul Humphreys.  After hearing Pamela’s story, Paul arranged to meet her the next afternoon at Bradford Beach on the shores of Lake Michigan near downtown Milwaukee.  Pamela pointed out a living-room sized area close to the water’s edge whee she believed the highly sentimental token made its fatal leap.  After only 10-minutes of searching with his Whites XLT Metal Detector, the ring’s hiding place was no match for the detector and Paul’s skills.  What a joy to present yet another lost ring to its overjoyed owner!  And as his practice, 25% of the reward he received, is donated to the Waukesha Memorial Hospital, the medical  facility that helped Paul return to his love of metal detecting after battling serious cancer.

Diamond Ring Lost, Ring Found in Victoria!

June 13th, 2011 by

Chris;
I got an email last night through theRingFinders website connection.

The email indicated some urgency so I immediately called the couple  back to set up an appt. for the next morning. I left early to go see this couple who had lost her cherished Heirloom Wedding ring. Arriving at their home in North Saanich ( near Victoria ), Michael told me of their previous day gardening & playing with their two daughters around the large  yard. At the end of their day, at bedtime, his Wife realized  that she was missing this special gold and diamond ring.  Needless to say, the couple spent a restless night reviewing  their days activities in their mind, and where they had spent the day around their 1 acre property.
My search started nearest their house, around the trees and flower beds. Gradually I worked my way back through the yard to an area of lawn where the girls, and their Mom had played in the grass. Working back and forth in that patch of grass, I had my Detector turned to low sensitivity to pick up only the surface ‘ hits ‘. Within a short while I had a strong signal, then pinpointing the area, I kneeled down, and saw the glint of gold, and knew I hit Success!
Here is the unsolicited email of gratitute from Michael, with his pictures taken right after the ring recovery.  Mike was very happy,
and relieved, if not somewhat surprised that I was able to find this prized ring so quickly.

” Dear Jim,

Thank you so much for helping us find my wife’s wedding ring. It holds a lot of sentimental value not to mention the 1 carat diamond set in it! She designed the ring using the gold and a diamond from an heirloom ring passed on by her grandmother.
My daughters refer to your metal detector as the ‘magic wand’, and I think of you as the ‘magician’. What a wonderful hobby you have, we would be delighted to promote your services to everyone we know. ”

Many thanks!

How I got started in the Treasure Hunting and artifact recovery game.

February 17th, 2011 by

It was Thanksgiving weekend in 1983, I was 9 years old.  We were sitting at the table and my little sister commented on how yellow my grandfathers eyes were, to my recollection that was the start of it, he went to the Dr. the following Monday and they next Friday We were all told that Gramps had Pancreatic Cancer(this is the Reason why I donate 25% of all my reward money to the American Cancer Society)…the next 6 months were kind of a blur for me.  Gramps was in and out of the Hospital taking Chemo and what not and he lost a lot of weight, drastic amounts.  he was out in the yard working on the Motor home one Saturday and when he came in for lunch he noticed his Masonic ring was gone, he had lost so much weight it just slipped off.  Gramps died 6 weeks later and from the time he lost his ring, myself and my cousins and grandmother spent all our free time looking for his ring so he could be buried with it.  Well needless to say we failed.  Grandma rented a Metal detector for a week back then and no one really knew how to operate it.  from that point on, I remember very clearly, I vowed to myself that one day I was going to be a Treasure Hunter and help People find their lost valuables….fast forward 25 years to October 2009, My Grandparents house goes up for sale “By Owner” I thought “WOW, I would totally love to buy that house”  after all I grew up there.  I called the Owner and got a tour of it and really wanted to buy it, however the owner decided to take it off the market and wait for the housing market to rebound a bit.  I was telling my grandmother about it and she said, “Well sweetie, if you can buy that house, maybe you can find your grandfathers Masonic ring”…then it hit me like a ton of bricks, that was the whole reason I ever got into Metal detecting and treasure hunting.  I called the Home Owner back a couple months later and told her the story and she seemed a bit reluctant, said she would have to think about it….The idea of being so close, yet so far away from a ring that not only my Grandmother would treasure, but myself as well, not just as a grandson finding a grandfathers long lost Masonic ring, but also as now I am a Mason…since the last time I spoke with the home owner my Grandmother has since passed on…How will this story end, will the ring be lost forever?……To be continued

Diamond and Gold Ring Lost in 1959….Recovered in 2010 by The Ring Finders Deldon Krueger

February 15th, 2011 by

I got a Call last spring around Mid April from a lady who told me a story about a ring she had lost.  It all began in 1959 when she was 9 yrs old.  she had been playing dress up in her moms room and had been putting on her moms costume jewelry…except one piece she had put on was a “butterfly” gold ring with a diamond in the center and 8 other gems in the wings (a birthstone ring) from her Great grandmother who had passed it down to her mother and one day to her…but not yet, not at the age of 9 in 1959.  Her Mom told her that one day the ring would belong to her.  A few days later she had become obsessed with the ring and snuck it out of her moms jewelry box and wore it to school one day,  a small 2 room school house, out in the country, 12 miles from the nearest town.   My first thought was “Oh wow, like Little House on the Prairie”, then she asked me to go find the ring…I was doubtful that I could locate the ring.  51 years had passed and she had no idea where on the playground she lost it.  Myself and my “team” got permission from the church that now owned the school house building to do our search.  when we got to the site we staked out and gridded the property, she said she had lost it on the playground, so we headed there first.  after about 3 hours we realized that where we were searching had been back filled with about 10 inches of dirt since my metal detector had found a Mt. Dew can about 10 inches down in the ground near the swing set…and there was a date in the concrete  of the swing set dated 1979…we were a little frustrated by now and not sure what to do, so I called Jean and asked here where exactly she used to play.  Evidently where we were searching had been where the outhouses and trash pits had been back in 1959 and there was a foundation there as well that we later found out was the horse barn.   Jean explained that the old playground was to the east of the school house.   about 100 yards from where we began our search.   We decided to pull up our stakes and grid the east side of the building, and withing an hour my Metal Detector got a sweet low tone that I have know to be the sound of gold, it was pretty feint but it was there none the less.  I made a wide divot so as not to damage what ever was in the soil with my digging tool.  I pulled out a plug about 7 inches wide and about 10 inches down then scanned the whole with my Pin Pointer….Nothing, that was good news because that means whatever it was, was in the plug of soil I had dug up.  I scanned my Garrett ProPointer around the plug  and bingo, she started chirping away, within moment I began to break the plug apart  until I found the object of my search, the amazing thing about gold is it never Rust or corrodes, 51 years in the dirt and it still gleamed.  the stones and mountings were caked with dirt and grime but after taking it home and cleaning it up real good it looked as good as new.   I called Jean in Florida and told her the good news, she cried….and thanked me endlessly, I shipped her the ring and a week later she sent me $1000 and a thank you card.  I was blown away, she didn’t have to do that but it was greatly appreciated, I split the money with my Team and we donated 25% to the American Cancer Society.  That is just one of the many stories of my successful recoveries….so tell me, what did you lose?

Lost Diamond Ring in South West Vancouver… Blog & Video

January 12th, 2011 by

Tonight I received a call from a young lady who lost a very special ring, it was her diamond ring and she was heart broken that it was lost.

I was told by Jen that the ring came off when she was feeding crows from her patio, on the 4th floor of their apartment.  When she was throwing the food to the crows her ring came off,  she feared it may have landed on the apartment roof  next door.

We did a few test throws with a ring I gave her,  this  gives me the general direction and I started my search. Within 15 minutes I got a great signal that fell into the gold reading on my Whites XLT metal detector.

I moved some leafs and snow and saw the glint of white gold, I bent down to take a closer look and I could see the ring that was stuck into the ground, as it was walked on for sure by Jen and her boyfriend who had spent many hours with a rented metal detector, but had no luck finding the ring.

I was very happy to have found the ring for Jen, Its nice to know its back where it belongs.  It was nice meeting you Jen & Ryan! Thank you for generous reward Jen!

I love my job!

Thanks for reading my story!

Best,
Chris Turner

Lost gold and diamond wedding ring, South Beach, Fremantle

November 21st, 2010 by

I got a call yesterday from Melissa who told me she has lost her gold and diamond wedding ring.

The ring came off when she was playing with her children……I know this scenario well. Young children hold onto Mum’s arms and when they drag their hands down someone’s arm then valuables are often stripped away.

I spent about 3 hours this morning looking for the ring but conditions were really poor in the water. I plan on looking again this week as the weather and early summer return.

I did find one of those *^%!#@ stainless steel rings which I really hate. These type of rings are popular with some people for reasons lost on me. They look like white gold but closer inspection reveals them for what they are !!

If anyone local has found this ring then please contact me so that we can get this ring back to the original owner.

Stay tuned on this one….”lost” is a temporary condition.

Tony.

Lost Gold Diamond Ring, Stanley Park, Vancouver

August 30th, 2010 by

I was just sitting down to dinner when I got a phone call from a man who needed my help.

He tells me that he lost a very special ring that his girlfriend gave him 10 years ago.

He was in a wedding party and some time during the day and a few drinks his ring had slipped off his finger.

The problem with these kind of searches is that it’s a needle in a haystack.

The only places he thought the ring might be was at Stanley Park in Vancouver where they took photos or at the church outside where they had the wedding.

Dano had a good feeling and decided to start at Stanley Park, I met him and his girlfriend there to start the search. When I get a search like this I have them show me the area then I grid search until I find the ring or I feel comfortable that its not there and move to the next location.

10 minutes into the search I get a great signal and I kick the grass and see a gold ring looking back up at me!

I call Dano over to ask him a few questions about the location while I turn on my flip video camera… The rest is on the video below!

I have to say that it was our lucky day as a search like that could take many, many hours. I was just as happy as Dano!!

I Love My Job!

Lost something?

Call ASAP
