I received an email through The Ring Finder Network from a lady who informed me that her husband’s platinum wedding ring was lost in their backyard. The husband was playing with the dog by tossing a ball around. They heard a “clink” as the ring flung off his finger and bounced off the house into either the grassy area or a weedy patch on the side of the house.
The couple spent hours on hands and knees looking for the ring with no success. They were heartbroken. They considered purchasing a new ring, but it would never be the same, plus the price of platinum is pretty high currently.
The couple live about 50 miles away from me and it just so happened that I was scheduled for an office visit that passes by their town. We set up a time to meet this afternoon.
I arrived at around 4:15PM and went over the circumstances of how the ring was lost. I started the hunt at about 4:20. At 4:27 I got a solid 12-4, 12-5 hit on the E-Trac… and there was the ring! It was on the surface, but buried under some dry weeds. The platinum acted as a mirror and it blended right in with the surrounding area. Even with pinpoint it took me a few seconds to realize I was looking right at the wedding band!
So, this is my first platinum find, and most rewarding find ever!
Here’s a pic of the ring and the happy wife!
Happy Hunting everyone!
